    This winter come join  South Niagara Canoe Club for our off-season program where we will be working on strength and fitness as well as the technical aspect of the kayak and canoe stroke.  This program is a great way to get into paddling shape before the summer racing months.  

    This program runs from November 11, 2019 through May 3 2020

    Specific dates and workouts can change at the coaches discretion.  

    High Performance is 9 sessions per week.   $545 Six days a week.   


    Mon/Tue pm at WIFC, Wed pm at Brock university, Fri pm at diamond trail, Sat am at Short hills, Rest of practices at Galaxy Gym @ Seaway Mall

    In new year, Wed am will switch to boys and girls club for swimming.  We move around a lot to keep things interesting!

    Developmental Paddling is an introduction to the sport of sprint canoe and kayak, and is designed for participants of all skill levels.    No prior paddling experience is necessary.

    Developmental Program   

    * SNCC’s Developmental canoe/kayak program is based on the “Learn to train” stage from the fundamental and foundation stages of Sport Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development pathway. This program focuses specifically on:

    Spring programming 2020 has been canceled due to covid-19.

    High Performance is for experienced paddlers who are interested in competition and reaching their full potential. Participants will be competing at the local and provincial level as well as National and perhaps International events and will be instructed according to Train to Perform standards of the Sport Canada’s Sport For Life Pathway. Athletes will be training 8-10 sessions a week focusing on both on-water and off-water workouts with a qualified coach. Competitive preparation for competition will focus on singles and crew boats and will encompass goal setting and specific race strategy.

    This program is designed for both new and experience paddlers that want to stay fit and have fun. Beginners will be taught the fundamentals of paddling in singles and crew boats, and the program will include exposure to dragon boat. Our emphasis is providing a safe and fun environment while promoting fitness on and off the water. There is also an option to participate in several local and national regattas during the summer, however this is not required.

    * This program is taught by our experienced instructors in a safe and fun environment. At the conclusion of the term, the paddler will be familiar with the joy of an active lifestyle and a heightened capability to enjoy the beautiful Welland Recreational Waterway.

    * Paddlers will have a chance to compete locally if interested (not required)

    A great stepping stone into the high-performance program, Developmental + is a continuation of the basics but focuses with additional focus on the training aspect of sprint paddling. In this program paddlers will learn and practice all the same skills as Developmental, with additional physical and technical emphasis towards racing. Paddlers will compete locally and provincially. This program is for you if you’re ready to challenge yourself, work hard, and have fun!

    Parakayak is an adaptive paddling program that offers on and off water activities to both youth and adults with a physical disability (mobility impairment, amputation, cerebral Palsy, CMT disease, etc).  The goal of the program is to introduce the participant to the sport of sprint kayak at a recreational level, teaching them in a fun and safe environment. If interested and comfortable, there is opportunity to compete at regional, provincial and national level, please ask your instructor for more information.

    A four day program designed to introduce the sport of sprint canoe and kayak to young boys and girls.   Note, there is no camp on Canada Day, July 1st 2020.   Through a fun filled environment and a variety of both on-land and on-water activities, kids will learn boat safety, paddling fundamentals and skills.  This program is intended for beginner paddlers, however participants must be confident in the water.  A PFD must be worn at all times.  Participants are encouraged to bring thier own PFD.  

    Each week is limited to 15 paddlers only, so register early so your child doesn't miss out!!!    Please note registrations will only be processed once SNCC has recieved a completed registration and full payment.

    Camp runs each day 9:00am-4:00pm

    This program is designed for adults of all ages and abilities.   We focus on paddling technique novice and advanced, fun and fitness. 

    We strive to meet our members scheduling needs by offering several packages for your convenience.   If none of the below packages suit your needs, perhaps we can work something out for you:  please contact vicecommodoredb@southniagaracanoeclub.ca  

    Mondays and Wednesdays:

    June 6th - September 16th on the water  6:45 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. 

    **Sep. 21st - October 14th on the water 6:15 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. 

    Full program July 6th - Oct. 14th:  $100.00 + hst

    Summer Session - July 6th - September 16th:  $85.00 + hst 

    Autumn Session:  September 21st - October 14th drop in $5.00  for members, $10.00 for non members

    8 sessions:  $40.00 + hst  

    Family discounts are provided for multiple registrants from one family.  Second children receive a 10% discount, while all subsequent children receive a 25% discount (discount to be applied to the program of equal or lesser value).  To receive your family discount please register then email registrar@sncc.ca before paying.  The registrar will apply the discount to your invoice.  

    Drop in fees for additional practices for members:  $5.00 to be paid at practice.

    *Packages of   8 can be used for any practices to suit your schedule.

    A two-week introduction to the sport of canoe/kayak, with a focus on developing fitness and introducing the fundamentals of balance,
    technique, and crew boat skills for racing. The camp culminates in a racing opportunity at the end of week two.

    No prior canoe/kayak experience is required and the atmosphere of the camp will be supportive to beginners, however participants should be willing to challenge themselves as they progress over the two week span and be enthusiastic to try out the competitive side of the sport.
      
    The Novice Camp will function independently for half of the two week term, and will combine with the Canoe Kids Summer Camp for the rest of the time to create a full day schedule.  The Canoe Kids Camp is focused primarily on fun and recreation, and will provide a
    complimentary balance to the competition focus of the Novice Racing
    component, to give a broader introduction to paddle sports over the
    two weeks.

    Cost is inclusive of all coaching, equipment, and race fees; all
    activities including the race will be taking place at the

    A week long program designed to introduce the sport of sprint canoe and kayak to young boys and girls.  Through a fun filled environment and a variety of both on-land and on-water activities, kids will learn boat safety, paddling fundamentals and skills.  This program is intended for beginner paddlers, however participants must be confident in the water.  A PFD must be worn at all times.  Participants are encouraged to bring thier own PFD.

    High Performance is for experienced paddlers who are interested in competition and reaching their full potential. Participants will be competing at the local and provincial level as well as National and perhaps International events and will be instructed according to Train to Perform standards of the Sport Canada’s Sport For Life Pathway. Athletes will be training 8-10 sessions a week focusing on both on-water and off-water workouts with a qualified coach. Competitive preparation for competition will focus on singles and crew boats and will encompass goal setting and specific race strategy.

    Developmental Program

    SNCC’s Developmental canoe/kayak program is based on the “Learn to train” stage from the fundamental and foundation stages of Sport Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development pathway. This program focuses specifically on:

    o Basic movements in sprint canoe and kayak

    o Singles

    o Team boats

    o Introductory principles of sport training as well as healthy approaches to sport

    * This program is taught by our experienced instructors in a safe and fun environment. At the conclusion of the term, the paddler will be familiar with the joy of an active lifestyle and a heightened capability to enjoy the beautiful Welland Recreational Waterway.

    * Paddlers will have a chance to compete locally if interested (not required)

    This program is designed for both new and experience paddlers that want to stay fit and have fun. Beginners will be taught the fundamentals of paddling in singles and crew boats, and the program will include exposure to dragon boat. Our emphasis is providing a safe and fun environment while promoting fitness on and off the water. There is also an option to participate in several local and national regattas during the summer, however this is not required.

    Parakayak is an adaptive paddling program that offers on and off water activities to both youth and adults with a physical disability (mobility impairment, amputation, cerebral Palsy, CMT disease, etc).  The goal of the program is to introduce the participant to the sport of sprint kayak at a recreational level, teaching them in a fun and safe environment. If interested and comfortable, there is opportunity to compete at regional, provincial and national level, please ask your instructor for more information.
