    This winter come join coach KC Fraser and South Niagara Canoe Club for our off-season program where we will be working on strength and fitness as well as the technical aspect of the kayak and canoe stroke.  This program is a great way to get into paddling shape before the summer racing months.  

    This program runs from November 1, 2018 through April 28, 2019 

    Specific dates and workouts can change at the coaches discretion.  

    High Performance is 8 sessions per week.   $590 Six days a week.  192 sessions.  See below for details

    Developmental+ is 3 sessions per week,  $425 Mondays  Fridays and Saturdays and is for those paddlers who have completed a program already and want to transition to racing.     

    1 session per week  $275 is a choice for those that only want to join us in the tank & gym at the Welland International Flatwater Centre  for 14 sessions on Mondays from January through April.

    High Performance is for experienced paddlers who are interested in competition and reaching their full potential. Participants will be competing at the local and provincial level as well as National and perhaps International events and will be instructed according to Train to Perform standards of the Sport Canada’s Sport For Life Pathway. Athletes will be training 8-10 sessions a week focusing on both on-water and off-water workouts with a qualified coach. Competitive preparation for competition will focus on singles and crew boats and will encompass goal setting and specific race strategy.

    • ·         This program requires a minimum of 10 volunteer hours per family per year, or a $100 volunteer opt-out payment. All registrants will be required to submit a volunteer cheque or deposit to complete registration.

    Mondays and Wednesdays, warm up at 6:30 p.m., on the water  6:45 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.  from May 1st through September 11th.

    Mondays only from September 16th through October 14th.  

    This program is designed for adults of all ages and abilities.   We focus on paddling technique, fun and fitness in the boat. 

    We make every attempt to meet our members scheduling needs within recreational dragon boat.   We offer 6 packages for your convenience.   


    The full program, 40 practices :  $150.00

    The full program is the best bang for your buck.  In addition, all full program registrants are welcome to drop in on Saturday morning rec or high performance practices free of charge.  For more information about Saturday mornings click  here. 

    Spring Session, 16 practices:  $70.00

    Summer Session, 18 practices:  $80.00

    Autumn Session,  5 practices:  $25.00

    Half of the program, 20 sessions:  $85.00*

    8 sessions at a time:  $40.00*

    Drop in fees for additional practices:  $5.00 to be paid at practice.

    Beyond October 14th, weather permitting and subject to coach/steers availability practices can be extended on a drop in basis. .

    *Packages of 20 or 8 can be used Mondays and/or Wednesdays to suit your schedule.

    This program will enter a minimum of 2 festivals, Welland Dragon Boat Festival, June 8th, 2019 & Stratford Dragon Boat Festival, September 14, 2019.

    Races are optional, and racing fees are extra.  

     Note: there are 40 sessions, 20 Mondays & 20 Wednesdays.   There are no practices on holidays.

    All registrants of the full Spring/Summer/Fall recreational dragon boat program may attend this session for free.   You can register for the full program here. 

    All others will be asked to pay a $5.00 drop in fee including hst.    There is one boat for this program, so seats are limited.      Attendance must be confirmed through Team Snap each week.   

    This is an upstart program for recreational dragon boat.   This program will run from May 4th through June 29th, excluding June 8th (Welland Dragon Boat Festival).   If the program is successful, we will extend it into the Summer/Autumn.   

    This is a one hour session with coach Evan Landry.   Brenda Arndt will fill in on days that Evan is competing.   The first half hour will be drills alongside our High Performance Dragon Boat Crew, The Warlocks, with coach Dough Jones.   The second half hour the rec crew will separate and finish their practice on their own.    

    Each practice will require a minimum of 12 participants to proceed and attendance will be confirmed through Team Snap each week.

    This program runs 3 times a week on the water with an expectation of off water training as well during the spring and summer, and once per week on the water during the fall. 

    This is a program for people who really want to race in dragon boats, and a very good fitness level is required.

Beginners will be taught the fundamentals of paddling in singles and crew boats, and the program will include exposure to dragon boat. Our emphasis is providing a safe and fun environment while promoting fitness on and off the water. There is also an option to participate in several local and national regattas during the summer, however this is not required.

    Parakayak is an adaptive paddling program that offers on and off water activities to both youth and adults with a physical disability (mobility impairment, amputation, cerebral Palsy, CMT disease, etc).  The goal of the program is to introduce the participant to the sport of sprint kayak at a recreational level, teaching them in a fun and safe environment. If interested and comfortable, there is opportunity to compete at regional, provincial and national level, please ask your instructor for more information.

    * SNCC’s Developmental canoe/kayak program is based on the “Learn to train” stage from the fundamental and foundation stages of Sport Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development pathway. This program focuses specifically on:

    o Basic movements in sprint canoe and kayak

    o Singles

    o Team boats

    o Introductory principles of sport training as well as healthy approaches to sport

    * This program is taught by our experienced instructors in a safe and fun environment. At the conclusion of the term, the paddler will be familiar with the joy of an active lifestyle and a heightened capability to enjoy the beautiful Welland Recreational Waterway.

    * Paddlers will have a chance to compete locally if interested (not required)

    A great stepping stone into the high-performance program, Developmental + is a continuation of the basics but focuses with additional focus on the training aspect of sprint paddling. In this program paddlers will learn and practice all the same skills as Developmental, with additional physical and technical emphasis towards racing. Paddlers will compete locally and provincially. This program is for you if you’re ready to challenge yourself, work hard, and have fun!

    A week long program designed to introduce the sport of sprint canoe and kayak to young boys and girls.  Through a fun filled environment and a variety of both on-land and on-water activities, kids will learn boat safety, paddling fundamentals and skills.  This program is intended for beginner paddlers, however participants must be confident in the water.  A PFD must be worn at all times.  Participants are encouraged to bring thier own PFD.  Each week is limited to 15 paddlers only, so register early so your child doesn't miss out!!!    Please note registrations will only be processed once SNCC has recieved a completed registration and full payment.
