    A great stepping stone into the high-performance program, Developmental + includes all the components of the Developmental program, but provides focus on the training aspect of sprint paddling.

    This program is for you if you’re ready to challenge yourself, work hard, and have fun!


    Program Schedule  

    Autumn Session

    September  8- October 29    

    Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays 4:30-6:00pm

    There are no practices on holidays

    Price:  $170 +HST

    no practices on holidays

    Racing Fees:

    Seasonal Association Fees (CKC/CKO/WOD): $50

    Race Fees: $5-15 per race depending on event (Coach will provide details)

    Requirements:  Paddlers must be between 10-15 years of age and must have participated in at least one program at SNCC or another CKC club

    Volunteering

    This program requires a minimum of 10 volunteer hours per family per year, or a $50 volunteer opt-out payment.

    SNCC’s Developmental canoe/kayak program focuses on teaching basic skills in sprint Canoe and Kayak for youth ages 10-15 in an encouraging and fun-focused environment. At the conclusion of the term, the paddler will be familiar with the joy of an active lifestyle and a heightened capability to enjoy the beautiful Welland Recreational Waterway. 

     

    Participants will have a chance to compete locally if interested (not required)

    Pricing : Autumn $110

    Requirements

    One week of Canoe Kids Summer Camp is recommended as prior experience

    This program is designed for both new and experience adult paddlers that want to stay fit and have fun. 

    Requirements:

    Must be at least 20 years old and be a registered member of SNCC

    Pricing:

    High Performance is for experienced paddlers aged 14+ who are interested in competition and reaching their full potential. Participants will be competing at the local and provincial level as well as National and perhaps International events and will be instructed according to Train to Perform standards of the Sport Canada’s Sport For Life Pathway. Athletes will be training 8-10 sessions a week focusing on both on-water and off-water workouts with a qualified coach. Competitive preparation will focus on singles and crew boats and will encompass goal setting and specific race strategy.


    Program Schedule - No practices on Holidays.

    Practice times may vary depending on competition schedule and weather.

    SNCC reserves the right to delay or end programming early due to weather, and/or water conditions, and enrollment.


    Autumn Session - Sept 13 - Nov 6

    Schedule:

    First week only:  Sept 13 - 18

    • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 3:30 - 6:00pm
    • Saturday 8:00 - 10:00am

    Subsequent weeks:  Sept 20 - Nov 6

    • Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6:00 - 7:30am
    • Monday through Friday 3:30 - 6:00pm
    • Saturday 8:00 - 11:00am


    Requirement

    • Paddlers must be at least age 14 as of January 1, 2021
    • Have experience in sprint canoe/kayak and taken at least one program at SNCC or another CKC affiliate.

    Paracanoe is an adaptive paddling program that offers on and off water activities to both youth and adults with a physical disability (mobility impairment, amputation, cerebral Palsy, CMT disease, etc).  The goal of the program is to introduce the participant to the sport of sprint kayak at a recreational level, teaching them in a fun and safe environment. If interested, there is opportunity to compete at regional, provincial and national level, please ask your instructor for more information.


    Pricing

    Spring Session, 3 x per week, May 18 - June 30 -  $150 +hst

    Summer Session, 3 x per week, July 1 - August 31 - $155 +hst

    Autumn Session, 1 x per week September 18 - October 30 - $50 +hst

    Canal Dragons (includes Hope Floats)

    Autumn session 2021

    We focus on fitness, paddling technique and fun.

    Adults of all genders and fitness levels welcome. 


    10 persons in each boat spacing every other seat left to right where possible.  e.g. seats 1,3,5,7&9 right and 2,4,6,8,10 left (or vice versa).  Exceptions made:  persons within bubbles may share a seat.


    Proof of vacination is required.


    Program Schedule

    September 20 - October 28 weather, sunlight, attendance and covid permitting

    Mondays, Wednesdays

    Start and end time will vary with available sunlight

    6:00 - 7:30 pm

    Warm up at 6:00 pm, boats leave the dock at 6:15


    Particpants will receive a teamsnap email for every practice for participants to advise if they will be attending and for participants to fill in an online covid screening.

    Please watch Teamsnap updates for earlier starts.  As the sun sets earlier everyday, times for warmup and the boats leaving the dock may move earlier for safety purposes.


    There are no practices on holidays.

    Price:  $4.00 per session for members, $6.00 per session for non-members.

    Attendance will be taken and invoices will be sent every two weeks until the autumn session ends.

    LEARN TO PADDLE DRAGON BOAT exclusive for BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS

    This indoor session is exclusive to Breast Cancer Survivors and their supporters.


    No experience necessary.  Have fun, learn the sport and the stroke and gain the skills and confidence to join a Dragon Boat crew.


    This session brought to you by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, provides the opportunity for Breast Cancer Survivor's together with their family and friends to try the sport of Dragon Boat or Sprint Canoe/Kayak in a safe and fun environment at no charge.

    Canal Dragons Mixed Dragon Boat Crew include our Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Crew, Hope Floats.  

    Winter session 2021

    This is an excellent program to build on your strength, fitness  and technique through the winter to prepare for the on-water season. 

    90 minute sessions split between the gym and paddle tank.

    This program is focused on fitness, stroke development and technique.


    Saturday sessions are recommended for athletes that want to step it up a notch and are enthusiastic about racing.

    No practices on holidays: Christmas, New Years, Family Day
