Sprint Canoe/Kayak is an Olympic sport that combines strength, endurance, and technique. SNCC has Canoe/Kayak programs suited to those trying a boat for the first time, Olympic hopefuls, and those of all ages and fitness levels.

SNCC’s U14 & U16 youth racing canoe/kayak program is based on the “Learn to train” stage from the fundamental and foundation stages of Sport Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development pathway. U14 and U16 train 3x per week. This program focuses specifically on:

High Performance is for experienced paddlers who are interested in competition and reaching their full potential. Participants will be competing at the local and provincial level as well as National and perhaps International events and will be instructed according to Train to Perform standards of the Sport Canada’s Sport For Life Pathway. Athletes will be training 8-10 sessions a week focusing on both on-water and off-water workouts with a qualified coach. This program is designed for both new and experience paddlers that want to stay fit and have fun. Beginners will be taught the fundamentals of paddling in singles and crew boats, and the program will include exposure to dragon boat. Our emphasis is providing a safe and fun environment while promoting fitness on and off the water. There is also an option to participate in several local and national regattas during the summer, however this is not required. Read Full Details
Paracanoe is an adaptive paddling program that offers on and off water activities to both youth and adults with a physical disability (mobility impairment, amputation, Cerebral Palsy, CMT disease, etc.). The goal of the program is to introduce the participant to the sport of sprint canoe/kayak at a recreational level, teaching them in a fun and safe environment. Canoe Kids Camp is a week-long program designed to introduce the fundamentals of paddle sports and develop confidence and competence in water safety. Campers will learn the basics of paddling various boats in a fun and safe environment, including dragon boat, sprint canoe/kayak, and canoe polo. Daily activities will include a mix of on-water and dry land activities and will include plenty of games and fun times along with learning opportunities. No prior canoe/kayak experience is required. The YRC is intended for young participants ages 10 - 15 who are excited about excelling at a new sport or wish to continue to develop their skills in Sprint Canoe and Kayak. Participants should be enthusiastic to try out the competitive side of the sport and be willing to challenge themselves as they progress. Read Full Details
New this year: you don't have to wait until summer to start paddling with SNCC! Previous campers can join us in the springtime, May 1-June 30 for an introductory weekly program 1 or 2 days a week. This program is now extended into the summer and autumn months. Participants will paddle with the U14 and U16 group.
